Thoughts Before the Madness

4d6c504e91684efe8eac444a5b228a61Championship week in College Basketball brings with it, a peak into the madness that will be approaching in a little less than two weeks time. I’ve found though, that the best way to pick your tourney favorites and upsets is to not follow what transpires on the days leading up to Selection Sunday, but rather to ride your gut instincts all the way to the bank.

Thought of the Day

Kb24As a Knicks fan, it’s really exciting for me (as a fan of the NBA in general) to watch a real team and a really dedicated player offer his talents to the world. Kobe Bryant is the universe’s best basketball player, and today against the Mavericks he proved why. After missing seven of his first 10 free throws, Kobe went on to make his next 17 in a row. He scored 30 of his season high 52 points in the 4th quarter and Overtime, and simply put on a spectacle this afternoon. He proved that when he wants to, he can take over a game and utterly dominate an opponent. It’s just nice to see a player that cares. And like I mentioned over a week ago more players are following in Kobe’s footsteps an I think the NBA is turning its page back into a character league.

A Week of Rest

We apologize to those devoted Creaturites out there whom haven’t received content from us for about a week now. It’s been a rough set of days over at CRH, so we’ve been beyond busy to say the least. Don’t worry though. Today is our last day off, then we kick back into March with brand new stuff for everyone. Things to keep an eye out for…MLB Previews (love those), reaction to the Clemens story, NFL Free Agent signings, and much more. Have a great last day of Winter people.

CoverHonestly, ever since the Super Bowl XLII debacle at the Pink Taco, we’ve been at a loss for words…literally. As you know, we haven’t posted much at all. This is mostly attributed to the lack of sporting news going on around the world. So instead, our time as been consumed by playing the game featured on the left. It’s highly recommended for anyone in the mood to get ready for the Madness that March will hold in less than a month.

Diggerphelps2Is there anything more incredibly inane, pointless, and yet strikingly brilliant than Digger Phelps’ tie-lighter? No. Nor will there ever be.

Amd_johanmets1Here you go Nolan. I’ve been delaying this post for a multitude of reasons. One, I’m still not entirely ready to admit that the Mets landed Santana for four prospects, when much better offers from both the Yanks and the Sawx were on the table. Two, I truly believe that if the Yankees had worked just that much harder this would’ve been a done deal, and we would’ve had a defiant rotation going into this season. Alas, it was not to be, and Omar Menaya adds another Central American stud to his team.

Ten_g_roddick_300It’s been awhile since we have seen Andy Roddick has angry as he was on Friday at the Aussie Open. He broke his racket, verbally assaulted the chair ref, and even rattled off a personal best 42 aces. But Andy’s rage caught up to him, as he fell to  Philipp Kohlschreiber (ranked 29th in the world) 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9), 6-7 (3), 8-6 in a
third-round match that started after 10 p.m. Friday and finished at
2:04 a.m. Saturday.

Thought of the Day

P1_manning_eli_siFor the record, nothing that Eli did on Sunday or that he will do in the future will ever make me believe that he is a good QB. It just won’t happen. And also, none of the calls/taunts that I received yesterday (and believe me there were many) will make me a believer in this guy. Call me when he has a ring, a pro bowl selection, and a decent attitude. I’ll even settle for a spot as the SNL host. That show is going downhill so fast they might need a comic genius like Eli to hold their standard with this coming season.

1e52a2da0d944daea7fbdaacf3505217Because I was spending my last day in Toronto, I was able to actually see Saturday night football on Canada’s version of the World Wide Leader, TSN, because of course Time Warner Cable doesn’t pick up the NFL Network. Anyway, I was really impressed by the Giants, right up until the 3rd Quarter when they completely bent over and took it from Brady and Co. You all know how strong our both Barney and my dislike is for the Pats, but 16-0 is impressive nonetheless. Also, congrats to Brady and Moss for setting the records for passing and receiving TDs in a season.
