Perfect 10′s: The Bleacher Creatures “Overview” of the 2011 Women’s World Cup

As about 15 people in the US know, the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup is in full swing. The lady “footballers” of the world have been battling it out on the pitch in nine different German cities for almost two weeks now. And while spectators cheer on their respective nations to victory in hopes of claiming the world’s greatest soccer title, we here at the Bleacher Creatures cannot help but honor these great athletes for some of their other attributes. So, Creatures newcomer HAZ finally breaks his radio silence and breaks down the most compelling aspect of this year’s tournament.
A little soccer primer before we begin: Often, looking for player wearing the number “10” on the soccer field will help you find the team’s top player such as Brazil’s Marta, the five time defending FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year, but we’ve searched the field for a different kind of 10. The perfect 10. The World Cup’s most beautiful competitors at each position.
The Starters:
Goalkeeper: #1 Hope Solo, United States. At the age of 29, Solo is a celebrated goalie known for her beautiful face and even more beautiful acrobatic saves.
Defense: #3 Rachel Unitt, England. Another 29-year-old, Unitt is a gorgeous left back that also plays for the Everton Ladies Football Club while not playing for her national squad.
Midfield: #6 Kaylyn Kyle, Canada. This 22-year-old is an absolute smokeshow by any standards. She played collegiate soccer in Canada for the University of Saskatchewan and also models occasionally, for good reason.
Forward: #14 Josefine Oqvist, Sweden. A blonde bombshell who plays her club football in Sweden. At the age of 27, this is Oqvist’s third world cup appearance, luckily for us. We’re still waiting for her to bust out a Brandi Chastain-like celebration. Still waiting…and praying.
Honorable Mentions:
Goalkeeper: #21 Erin Nayler, New Zealand. A 19-ear-old backup keeper for the Ladie Ferns. To conjure up my inner Chris Berman: “Well, I don’t know about you, but I’d Nayl-’er!”

Defense: #6 Natalie Garcia, Mexico. At 21 years old, while not playing for her native country, Garcia attends the University of San Diego where she is a rising senior on the women’s soccer team. Her looks have been known to start Mexican drug wars.
Midfield: #11 Nayeli Rangel, Mexico. A beautiful 19-year-old midfielder that just could not quite compete with the looks of Kaylyn Kyle although she may be one of the tournaments most attractive participants.
Forward: #13 Alex Morgan, United States. A recent graduate and former soccer player at Cal, Morgan is a stunning 22-year-old that has been compared to the great Mia Hamm for her speed and clinical finishing. Probably my favorite of the bunch because she’s American and single, as far as I know. Hit me up Alex.
Forward: #16 Jonelle Filigno, Canada. An exotic-looking 20-year-old who also plays for the Rutgers University women’s team. Filigno was nominated for the Candian Player of the Year award in 2010.
