Livin’ It Up in LA

Manny Ramirez has been dominating since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, and if he can continue to play at a high level, the Dodgers will be the favorite to win the NL West.
The Dodgers are extremely fortunate that they were able to land Manny Ramirez. He has instantly brought them the power hitter that they needed in their lineup, as well as a superstar for the fans to love. In his first three games, Manny is hitting .615 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs, while his team went 2-1. The Manny Ramirez era is off to a great start in LA, and fans only hope that more of the same can come, as they are just 1.5 games back of the NL West lead. With the NL West being the weakest division in the MLB, it shouldn’t be tough for the Dodgers to take the lead from the Diamondbacks, who have been very inconsistent this season.
The one question that should now be posed, assuming the Dodgers do come back and win the NL West with Manny, is if they can do anything once they make the playoffs. I personally feel that they cannot beat the likes of the Cubs, Phillies and whoever else makes it in as a wild card. Their pitching hasn’t been very good this year, and until their top pitchers can get their acts together, the Dodgers won’t be doing much in the playoffs. But if they decide to exercise their option to keep Manny in 2009 and 2010, they could be a dangerous team down the road.
