If there were any questions about USA basketball not being prepared, I think they answered them on Friday when they demolished Canada 120-65 without LeBron James, who sat out due to a sprained ankle. Now, the USA National Team is in China finishing their preparation for the 2008 Olympics, where they hope to rebound from a Bronze Medal performance in Athens four years ago.

In 1992, Hall of Fame broadcaster Red Barber said the following of this man pictured at left, "[He], along with Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, is one of the two or three most important men in baseball history." Bob Costas observed, "There is no non-player more deserving of the Hall of Fame." In 2000, Hank Aaron endorsed this person’s selection, saying "[He] should be in the Hall of Fame if the players have to break down the doors to get him in." So who is this monumental figure that time and time again has fallen victim to the Basball Hall-of-Fame’s veteran’s committee?

After losing Baron Davis to the Clippers, the Warriors responded by signing Corey Maggette, Ronny Turiaf, trading for Marcus Williams from the Nets, acquiring Anthony Randolph and Richard Hendrix through the draft, all while re-signing Monta Ellis and Kelenna Azubuike.

This past week, both Jason Taylor and Jeremy Shockey have new teams. Jason Taylor joins the Redskins, giving them the boost off the edge that they needed on defense after Philip Daniels went down for the season. And Jeremy Shockey will be partying in New Orleans, giving them the big man over the middle that they have desperately needed for years.
