Where Amazing Actually Happened

It’s not every day that we get to witness ESPN Classic games unfold right in front of our eyes. As fans of the game, we half-heartedly watch each playoff game (in what ever sport) with the mindset that something special is going to happen. Of course, this happens maybe 4.5% of the time. Well, last night at Staples was one of those games that left everyone who watched with a feeling of utter exuberance…whether or not you were a Celtics fan.
As Boston was making their initial run in the 3rd, you could tell that there was something different in the way they were taking to the court. A confidence and no-holds-bar attitude was gleaming on all of their faces. As opposed to a Lakers team that was already planning on greeting their celeb fans after the game, talking themselves up to their star-studded crowd. Well, we all know what happened next.
When it finally seemed as though Boston had won the game, I commented to my PTI partner in crime Dan Braunstein (a Celtic fanatic), that we were watching an ESPN instant Classic. There was no denying it. This game, and this series have brought back life into the NBA that had been lacking for the past several seasons. Even in the wake of the latest Tim Donaghy plot line, the Celtics and Lakers have provided the league with an unforgettable Finals, and head full of amazing memories, and for that, we all should be thankful.
