One Man’s Last Grasp For the Spotlight

The latest ploy out of Tim Donaghy to garner attention leading up to his court date has caused an immense raucous around the league during a time that should be filled with excitement for the game.
It truly is a shame that Donaghy’s attempt to displace some of his burden onto other refs has overshadowed these current NBA Finals. A rivalry between two of the game’s greatest franchises has been renewed, and for the first time in a while, the league has obtained some positive reaction amongst its die hard and even casual fans. The games have been riveting, the story lines rich with intrigue, and the players ready to do anything to get their hands on that championship ring. Unfortunately, the lore of the 2002 Western Conference Championship game 6 between the Kings and Lakers has been rehashed with Donaghy’s latest allegations that the three refs involved were fixing the outcome.
Perhaps the efforts that Donaghy has put forth as of late could best have been used in the past when actually calling a fair basketball game. It’s disgraceful that someone who claimed to love the game would pull a stunt like this during the league’s biggest time of the year. All of us who still have faith in the NBA hope to put this matter behind us as soon as possible.
it is disgraceful what Donaghy said but we should listen to what his lawyers have to say because maybe just maybe he is telling the truth.
