Return of “The Big Smooth”

Sam Perkins, the man known perennially around the NBA during his playing days for being the biggest pot-head in the league, has returned to his former team (the Pacers) as VP of Player Relations.
In the hopes of providing the current roster with a "mentor", Team president Larry Bird has hired "Smooth" with whom he played against and coached along in the late ’90′s. According to The Indianapolis Star, Bird said he has wanted to hire Perkins for some time. The team believes Perkins will be able to relate to players
because he spent 15 years in the NBA. If by relate, Bird wants him to provide guys like Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels with better weed, then they got the right guy. If the Pacers actually believe that the acquisition of Perkins will help keep some of their troubled players out of legal trouble, then they have another thing coming.
Aint haters grand! Why not wish the man well in his next adventure. Big Smooth excels in communication and focus – he always has, and should be an asset to Indiana. Any new position requires adjustment to the rules of the house. Sam has accomplished mighty works on the social front and has somehow kept a low enough profile keep himself out of trouble. Yeah, I believe that the younger players will relate to his smoothness and that he will be able to share lessons learned.
