Michael Strahan was a champion long before he and the Giants won Super Bowl XLII against the Patriots this past February. The man who holds the NFL record for sacks in a single season (22 1/2 in 2001), retired today after a career capped 15 years and 7 Pro Bowl appearances.
Strahan was one of those guys that always played the game the right way. Never for a second did anyone ever question his work ethic, tenacity on the field or dedication to his teammates. While most might remember this extraordinary talent for his wide gapped front teeth, his infectious sense of humor off the field along with the love for the game that he carried into each practice and each game is the legacy he will leave behind amongst those who really understood him. There is no question that Strahan is a first ballot Hall-of-Famer, and I personally can’t wait until the Canton God’s open their arms to this special player.
