After Hank Steinbrenner made the following public statement: "Red Sox Nation? What a bunch of [expletive] that is,that was a creation
of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans." Boston majority owner John Henry reached out to good ole Hank and inducted him as an official member of "The Nation", to which Steinbrenner replied: "I’m not gonna join Red Sox Nation — honorary or not — I’ll respond to that later".

People around the league have a misconception that this light feud between the two owners is bad for baseball. In fact, it’s just the opposite! What’s not to love here? Father George had essentially hidden himself from media and other forms of spotlight ever since the Yankees dynasty ended in ’01. This is perfect for MLB. What could be better press than the owners of the two most bitter rivals in all of sports ribbing in other in public? This takes this year’s competition between the Yanks and the Sawx to a whole new level, and will mean big things for the rivalry going down the line.
