One Year Later…

Disregard the homosexuality of the picture above, as it is simply their to help those readers who aren’t too great with words, and work better with pictorial representations. Anyways, if you are still trying to figure out the gist of the post (we hope you have gotten an idea), we acknowledge this day, March 26th, 2008, as the one-year anniversary of the creation of The Bleacher Creatures. We thank all our readers for being with us for one-year, and as C-LO said in the inaugural post, it’s great to have everyone along for the ride!

An Emotional Night In Philly As Iverson Returns

04bc5b5bbb2f477eec98c5a409962042getI know this idea is a few days late, but I just picked it up off of Danny’s site so I thought we’d give it a go anyway. Heads up for the MLB previews and breakdown of the first two rounds later today and tomorrow.

Breaking Down the Brackets: The Picks

4d6100b01a6c4fe682c38e7c7f662e2cAs everyone knows, this year’s bracket is WIDE open for anyone to take. This very well could be the year that all four number 1′s make the final four, but there’s enough depth in the field to make it so that known of the top seeds make it to San Antonio. With that said, the Creatures give you one man’s humble opinion as to how this year’s March Madness will shape out.

2008 MLB Previews: NL East

With
the Phillies and Mets being the only true competition in this division,
things will be interesting, because these two teams will not only be
competing for the division championship, but also the final playoff
spot in the NL. The winner obviously clinches their spot, but the loser
could be staying at home watching, as the Mets did last year. With this
rivalry becoming even stronger after the Phils won their first division
championship in 14 seasons, and the Mets collapse, partly in thanks to
three season sweeps by Philadelphia, this season will be an exciting
one at the top of the NL East.

Breaking Down the Brackets: Most Intriguing Games

T1_chalmers_siThe brackets are out and are waiting to be busted. I have to say that this year the selection committee did an excellent job filling out their field of 65 and the 34 at-large bids. With the exception of one or two mistakes (Dayton and ASU in for Oregon and Arizona) this will be the most competitive and evenly placed tournament we’ve seen in a long time. With that said, C-LO and Barney are going to provide you with the most insightful knowledge on the tournament you’ll get around.

J.A. Adande’s recent article comparing NCAA March Madness to NBA “March Madness” basically forced me to write my first article in a week and defend my beloved college basketball. It’s clear Adande has a considerable amount of bias coming into the article. Let’s be honest, the guy gets paid to cover the NBA, who wouldn’t want to defend the sport they get paid to watch and write about. I’ll give credit to Adande for recognizing the hype that March Madness brings and appreciating it. As he says, “I love filling out my brackets…love getting off a plane in March and seeing people crowd around the airport bar TV sets, with the sound of high-tops squeaking on the court coming from the speakers.” But Adande makes a few points that clearly show his bias to the NBA and I feel obliged to defend the most wonderful time of the sporting year. March belongs to college basketball, not the NBA.

Mlb_a_bcrystal_600Your correct, that is Billy Crystal adorned in Yankees blue and white. The comedian fulfilled his lifetime dream to put on the New York uniform and take a cut. Assigned the DH spot, Cyrstal led off for the Yanks. After making contact and sending a ball foul on his second pitch, #60 (after his age) struck out swinging to Pirates tosser Paul Maholm.
