The Sixers won their season high fifth game in a row tonight with a
102-88 win over the Grizzlies. This win streak came over a five game
home stand, in which they played the Dallas Mavericks, who they held to
just 23 second half points. There are a few reasons for the recent
success of the 76ers. One of the reasons is because of the excellent
play by point guard Andre Miller. He won player of the week in the
Eastern Conference, a week in which the Sixers went 3-1, winning 3 of
the 5 games of this current winning streak. Andre’s veteran leadership
has been a huge part of this young team’s success, because he puts the
younger players in the positions on court, and is a very unselfish
player.
success, has been Andre Iguodala’s recent spark. Tonight against the
Grizzlies, he score 29 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 8
assists, in what is by far his best game of the season. If Miller and
Iguodala continue their high level of play, and Mo Cheeks continues to
get great play from rookie Thaddeus Young, who the Sixers are 6-2 with
in the starting lineup, than this Sixers team could be tough to beat in
the second half of the season, where they went 18-11 and last
season. With this current momentum, and now the number eight seed in the
Eastern Conference, watch out for the Sixers in the second half of the
season.
