Dukes of Durham

Many people say that after the Super Bowl, the world of sports hits a dull spot. I beg to differ. In fact I think the dull spot comes before the Super Bowl, and the past few years (save this year) the Super Bowl has actually been excrutiatingly boring. I mean unless you consider the two weeks of insane and unneeded press coverage about football’s biggest game exciting, the couple weeks leading up to it are not filled with the most exciting of sporting events (unless, of course, you like the World Figure Skating Championships). After the Super Bowl, the excitement starts to pick-up. NBA execs are working out crazy deals (like Pau to the Lake Show or Shaq to the Suns of Phoenix). The NHL playoff race starts to shape up. Pitchers and Catchers. THE PRO BOWL (that was a joke). And, lest we forget, college basketball has hit its in-season climax. Conference battles take place on a nightly basis. Joe Lunardi gets to predict the March Madness bracket 78 times and never gets it right. And, speaking of March Madness, its only a month away. The greatest tournament in sports is a month away people! Get the bread out of the oven, have some dinner, and switch on the tube. Just don’t turn the volume up because Dickie V is back and he can SCREEAMM BABYYY! And staying on college basketball, there’s only one team Barney cares about…the Blue Devils of Duke. And boy is he excited about the season they are having to date. Let’s take a walk down to Durham.
