NFL Postseason Predictions (Divisional (Saturday))

Brett_favre_jerseyThe thought of a Manning vs. Manning pants party in the Super Bowl is simply preposterous so I refuse to even acknowledge its potential legitimacy. But just the thought kind of makes you anxious no? I mean two Manning faces in the in the Pink Taco all at once. That’s just way too much to handle. On to Saturday’s picks.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers

In a weekend filled with marquee names and match ups, this game falls between the cracks in terms of media hype. And as it turns out those are the games that usually end up being the most entertaining to watch. Note Kansas vs. Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl this year, even though that was kind of like the smartest kid in the special class scenario. Anyway, I love this game simply for the QB’s Matt Hasselback has to be one of the most underrated front men of the last half decade right? The guy simply kicks ass in the playoffs, not mention his impeccable O-line that always seems to set up when it matters. Quite frankly we haven’t seen Favre in playoff action since ’03 and for some reason I’m feeling upset, after I dogged the Hawks after their solid win over the emotional favorite ‘Skins last week. Seattle has a way of just squeaking by in the playoffs without anyone really noticing, but the public will take note this afternoon.

Predictions- C-LO: Hawks (24-21)
                      Barney: Pack (27-21)

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New England Patriots

What more is there to say about this contest that hasn’t already been thrown over the airwaves of the World Wide Leader for the past week? The Pats are the juggernaut, and the Jags are the cutthroat underdogs that just kind of might maybe have a shot at pulling the upset. Everyone’s been on the J’Ville bandwagon for the last couple of weeks now (including myself), and that game against Pittsburgh, really just how David Gerrard kept his composure on the last play really made me a believe. But in all honesty, the Jags are going up against God’s team right now. Every sign points the Pats running the table and finishing with a mind blowing 19-0 record at the end of the season. Brady is doing some of the best Quarterbacking of all time, and he has the best receiver in the game to throw to. How can you argue against destiny? Odds are though that Del Rio and company will actually scheme to shut down Brady, Moss and Co., but will end up forgetting about Kevin Faulk (the most underrated player in the league) and he’ll end up burning them for a buck ten on the ground and a turnaround TD at the end of the third that sparks a 17-0 Pats run. Like I said people, It’s destiny.

Prediction- C-LO: Pats (35-31)
                     Barney: Pats (31-20)

Sunday’s picks will be out tomorrow. Enjoy the games.
