Quote of the Day

“Brown throwing Eric Snow out there in the final 35 seconds of Game 4, up by three with the ball, so they could play four-on-five on the biggest possession of the game. Fortunately, they were able to run a play called “22 Heave,” in which LeBron stutter-steps from 22 feet with two guys on him, jumps backward and launches a terrible shot as the shot clock is winding down.”

Kobe Drama

Back to back articles about a Laker. Who woulda thunk it from a die-hard Knicks fan? Anyway…the Kobe drama meter is bouncing off the charts from its relatively high position yesterday. The big news around the league was that Bryant needed more from his front office. Jerry West as a key part of the organization specifically. The crazy day began this morning when Bryant appeared on Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN Radio show in NYC. Kobe reported that a “Lakers insider” made him the scape goat for Shaq getting traded from the team. Clearly distraught by his team’s disrespect towards their star player, Kobe demanded a trade this morning and said there was nothing LA could do to change his mind. Just a couple of hours ago though, Bryant appeared on Dan Patrick’s ESPN Radio show and seemed to give the Lakers an out. Stating that if they could bring in what he needs to be a contender again, then he would stay. Granted, Kobe is locked in with the team for another 4 years 88 mil of his original lucrative 136 million 7 year deal. So if he isn’t traded he still has to show up. The Kobe saga is really a shame, because it could’ve been avoided by being honest. And with a struggling franchise like the Lakers, the last thing you want to do is lose the trust of your star player. Dr. Jerry Bus and Mitch Kupchak have a lot of work to do to regain whatever Kobe once fealt for their organization. The first thing I would do…bring back Jerry.

Kobe’s Rights

Some brief thoughts on Kobe Bryant’s recent comments to the Lakers organization…Essentially, Bryant (in my mind the best player in the league) is demanding that former Lakers GM Jerry West return to the team to help rebuild a struggling franchise. West is set to leave his post as President of Basketball Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies on June 1st after a less than stellar tenure with the team. West built the championship Lakers teams of the ’80s and was the mind behind trading for Shaq and Kobe in the ’90s. There is no doubt that the man has what it takes to create a franchise in this league, given the right tools. And Kobe, given the player that he is, has every right to demand West’s presence in LA. This team wins maybe 20 games per year without Kobe. He is the heartbeat and the leader of the Lakers, and the fact that he has gone public with his views on how to rebuild, is something nice to see. Give the man what he wants! If only KG had the balls to speak up like Kobe does…

Thought of the Day

With the Stanley Cup finals starting and the Eastern/Western Conference Finals in the NBA getting into full swing this week, it’s a great time for all you diehards out there to hold off on your night plans with the significant other and watch some sports. Forget the dinner plans, screw the crazy amount of movies that are coming out, because TiVoing these games just isn’t good enough. You have to be there first hand to witness the excitement. Take my word. You’ll thank me the next time Bron Bron throws down on Sheed and your there to witness. Just like the t-shirts say.

Thought of the Day

Because of the exam period nearing close, we at the Bleacher Creatures have had limited time to write lengthy/in depth articles this past week. Thursday marks the end of examinations and the begining of summer. This means longer and better articles to come out next week and all summer long. Please be patient. The good stuff is on its way.
